    1. being envisioned

California is working on regulating tech and AI because it is a state where a lot of the technology has been developed, however, a lot of countries are lacking regulation and some AI companies can take advantage of the lack of regulation.

    1. international organisation

The lack of capacity of International Organizations to regulate some issues is the results of the UN high-level group on LAWS, which has not arrived to any conclusion and while they continue discussing, some countries and businesses continue building AI weapons.

    2. code writers

I agree code writers should be part of regulating AI as they are the first line of action regarding AI.

    1. UN High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation

As the main peace keeping institution the UN should ban the fabrication and use of autonomous weapons. It is unfortunate how realism in international relations has not really evolved towards a peaceful world.

    2. benefits

As my colleague mentioned the purpose of AI should be to avoid conflict. If we are thinking of autonomous weapons it means that we would continue fighting and destroying each other and that we have not learned from the many wars humanity have endured… or maybe we have because the side using AI weapons would lose less lives (sarcasm).

    1. AI give either side the upper hand

It would depend on which side acts faster. If the defence side can anticipate what will the attack side do, then it will have the upper hand - but as AI develops I think it will become a game of “mouse and cat”.

    2. AI that will  be able to learn

It seems that we do not know yet how advance can AI be, and as much as it advances for good it will also advance for bad. It is important to think about the future and the possibilities to stop or neutralize the development of AI powered malware.

    1. right to privacy

In California, all companies are obliged to give you the option to opt out from data tracking. Of course most of the population is not aware of the importance to review the terms so they just click ok without considering the possibility of opting out from data gathering programs while using a website.

    2. Data protection

As one of my colleagues already mentioned one of the vulnerable groups are children, but besides children also seniors are not aware of how their data is being used, which is why it is important to bring awareness and have data protection.

    1. rights

It would be ironic that robots get rights in some parts of the world while in other not all humans are considered worthy of having all the human rights. I think first we should work on making sure that ALL humans have rights, and have their basic needs covered and then worry about the machines.

    2. program themselves

For me it has been complicated to understand how computers can program themselves, or how AI can start to code, or how can AI will achieve singularity - at the end of the day it is the humans that are creating all the coding and the new tech.
