    1. But a more fundamental question being debated in the world of artificial intelligence is: can you turn serendipity into an algorithm, or at least convincingly fake it? And potentially undermining the efforts of these algorithms is the fact that if we think our bosses are forcing these kinds of meetings or that we are being manipulated into bumping into each other, will we just take our coffee breaks elsewhere?

You cannot easily create serpendity and informality by algorithm.

      ||Dragana|| What about using speeches as case study during our course. It could be organised around challenge:

      • how to preserve 'seriosness' (flags, etc.) while intorducing some new elements (key points on the side, etc.).

It should not EuroVision Song style presentation of country, but it should have some more elements.

We may use our video annotation software.

    1. Ravi Murugesan calculates that if you ask someone to watch a 10-min YouTube video (at 480p quality) you’re also asking them to spend 100mb of their data. In Malawi that would be about $2.7 – in Ethiopia 24 cents and in Uganda 16 cents. In Ghana and South African universities have persuaded telecom companies to zero-rate academic and educational sites in response.

Could we have some statistics of the cost of the Internet? It could be brutal but real to start our webinars with info that it costs us in Switzerland % of our income and those accessing from Malawi % of their income. It could be easily calculated: cost of access and bandwidth used for 60 minutes Zoom webinar.

It could sound dangerous for us. But we have to be frank and clear even if 'news' are not favourable for us (privileged position in the West).

    1. There are also software alternatives to dedicated video wall processor hardware.  Hiperwall is one such solution that we have implemented in the past with multiple clients.  With this system you can use any display as a display node in an overall video wall system. This method is extremely flexible, as it is a networked video wall type system.  You typically pay for each node license annually to keep software current. If your system needs the added flexibility, I would recommend researching this option.

    2. Currently the most common video wall systems are LCD and LED, though rear projection cubes, and blended front projection are also options.  Keeping image quality the same,LCD will be substantially cheaper than the LED equivalent.  The trade off being the bezel lines in the LCD video wall array, versus the line free LED array.  Until LED panels come down in price (which they have been doing) LCD will be the budget conscious choice.

    1. 3.9 mm LED screens are the best value in the market currently. When you choose a pixel pitch smaller than 3.9, the cost of the project becomes considerably more expensive. For viewing distances less than 5 feet and dimensions smaller than 100 inches, we encourage our customers to look into a TV.

This text is useful for a few reasons:

      • it provides a good summary of remote working tools (ConfTech Lab)
      • it is a good attempt to play with different fonts and spacings in ordere to make long text more engaging - it is not yet 'there' but it is approach that we should use for our long texts: different fonts, spacings, braking with images.

    1. Humans communicate even when they’re quiet. During an in-person conversation, the brain focuses partly on the words being spoken, but it also derives additional meaning from dozens of non-verbal cues, such as whether someone is facing you or slightly turned away, if they’re fidgeting while you talk, or if they inhale quickly in preparation to interrupt.

We communicate even when we are quiet.

    2. This is because having to engage in a “constant gaze” makes us uncomfortable — and tired. In person, we are able to use our peripheral vision to glance out the window or look at others in the room. On a video call, because we are all sitting in different homes, if we turn to look out the window, we worry it might seem like we’re not paying attention. Not to mention, most of us are also staring at a small window of ourselves, making us hyper-aware of every wrinkle, expression, and how it might be interpreted. Without the visual breaks we need to refocus, our brains grow fatigued.

Explains 'Zoom fatigue' via tiredness of 'constant gaze' into camera without the visual breaks.
